Through the digital platform of the Committee on Scientific Instrumentation at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), the university’s advanced equipment is accessible: (a) for research purposes by the scientific community of AUTH and other institutions, and (b) for service provision by productive organizations and companies. Access to the equipment is granted when at least one of the following conditions is met:
- It advances research.
- It contributes to the educational process.
- It enhances the outreach of AUTH and its contribution to society and the economy.
The objectives of this initiative are as follows:
- To systematically document and utilize AUTH’s research infrastructure digitally, as part of the university’s ongoing digital upgrade, to strengthen synergy and interdisciplinarity, as well as to attract funding for the benefit of both researchers and the university.
- To ensure transparency, promote, and increase the visibility of the equipment, with the possibility of either interdepartmental use within AUTH or usage by external third parties.
- To provide the right to submit requests for coverage of the annual maintenance costs of the declared equipment, provided that at least 10% of the annual operating time of the equipment is dedicated to interdepartmental research use or to providing services to third parties.
- To coordinate the procurement of scientific equipment for AUTH, ensuring that acquisitions are strategically targeted toward acquiring cutting-edge equipment that is not currently available at the university.
